    Time Event
    9:16a
"Souffles are for people without teeth."
I hate it when I'm wrong. I thought I'd been all excellent about stomping down my annual sinus infection. And then, suddenly, last Wednesday, it overtook me when my back was turned. Or my nose. When my nose was turned backwards and blindfolded.

I'm lucky that it hasn't turned to bronchitis like it did last year at this time. But it made me have to lie down for days on end, something I'm not very good at doing. I got a lot of TV watched. Saw "Boeing Boeing" on TCM with Tony Curtis and Jerry Lewis. Tony Curtis is a guy with three blonde stewardess girlfriends, one British, one French and one German, who don't know about each other. He rotates them in and out of his Paris apartment with a detailed timetable that's upset by the introduction of faster jets. Suddenly they all show up at once and there are lots of slamming doors and ladies in nighties and quick-thinking excuses followed by, "Yeah, that's it!" It's the kind of comedy where the actresses who play the stewardesses are given opening credits billing that includes their measurements. That's not something I just made up.

I just tried to find the opening credits sequence on YouTube and all I found were plane crash clips.

Because it's Monday morning, it's time for [info]xtreem_aaron's ritual of watching the crappy VH1 Classic version of "120 Minutes" that TiVo always pulls from the late-night Sunday schedule. It's got nothing to do with the actual "120 Minutes" that they used to show on MTV, really, but some of the same videos pop up. Problem is that they also include non-120 Minutes videos that were simply early 80s MTV staples like Wall of Voodoo and then also rotten 90s alternative videos by The Ocean Blue. Whoever programs that show fuckin' LOVES The Ocean Blue and no one's making them mix it up at all.

Top gayface videos seen on this thing, not counting "Fun Plex." -

    Human League - "Human"
Doctor and The Medics - "Spirit in The Sky"
    Alphaville - "Big in Japan"
Adam & the Ants - "Prince Charming"

    Especially Doctor and The Medics

There is more in my smoothie than is dreamt of in your philosophy.
    In the blender, I put:

    1 cup of pomegranate juice
1 handful of goji berries that I soaked in the juice for about 90 minutes to soften them up.
    1 handful of blueberries
    1 banana
2 dates that had the big seed cut out of them
    some grated ginger root

I'm counting on it to push this sinus infection out of me for good and also to give me watching strength when "American Idol" starts this week. You'll all be ecstatic beyond imagination to know that I'm recapping every minute of it again for Advocate.com and, in the spirit of giving you more than you could have ever hoped for, I've found a guest commentator in the tradition of [info]elysesewell, who is my go-to lady for all the Advocate "Project Runway" recaps. First "Idol" season Top 10-er and fellow gay Jim Verraros will be chiming in each week with special insights and whatnot. No, he won't be watching it with me or anything. We've actually never met. And he lives in Chicago. But we're Facebook friends and that's very nearly like being best pals in real life.
