I'm not so unwell that I'll be needing Will Smith's pancreas or anything, but still...
Welcome, shiny diapered ass of a new year. I am currently enjoying you with hot water and lemon and honey, pots of hot green tea and banana smoothies made with pomegranate juice and goji berries. I just watched Zoe Bell ride on the hood of a Vanishing Point-mobile. Soon I'll be putting crushed garlic on something for lunch. I refuse to let this turn into last January's bronchitis. Ever had bronchitis? It can eat a dick. It's just not gonna happen this time. My husband has been helpful with the kettle and sharing his hot water bottle. I'm convinced that this is going to keep the crud from congealing inside me. I have no science evidence for this, but it feels nice even if I'm wrong.

If you don't own a soft-woolen-covered hot water bottle I recommend getting one. People in olden times knew stuff that we forgot.

Oh, and my resolution is to post lots more pictures. Look, here I go...

You have one week to get all better. I arrive in LA on the 8th. TBSC expects an audience with you.

That's like asking which grain of sand I haven't stepped on in the Sahara. It would be easier to tell you where I have been. Lunch at Irv's is a must. Other than that, what's awesome to you?

I haven't heard of goji berries, but I hope the hot water/steam and nutrients help you to be back to full health soon. So many people seem to get sick around New Year's. :(

Pomegranate is so last year, then?

On the plus side of pomegranates suddenly becoming popular, people stopped staring at my lunch in disgust and saying, "What the hell is THAT thing?"

I have a Fungus the Bogeyman hot water bottle. It's furry and soft and good.
As a kid I used to read a comic strip in an English comic. The strip was 'Walter Hottle Bottle' about a boy and his night time adventures with his hot water bottle friend.
Anyway, get well and Happy 2009.

Maybe you should be like Bridget Jones (in the book NOT the film) and get a pashmina hot water bottle cozy.
At least now I know who to blame for my sinus problems this morning. Those damn fiber optics gave me your cold after we chatted online.

I go for the microwaveable rice packs, since you can make 'em yourself out of flannel. But I highly advise putting some dried lavender in them with the rice, because otherwise the things smell damned awful the first few times you use 'em.

I caught Bronchitis at Sundance last year. MoFo lingered around, reoccuring on whim, for 5 months. I finally attacked it with the help of an acupuncturist, even though I am kind of suspicious of that whole thing. But this guy was awesome, the most healing, compassionate, caring, inquisitive doctor type person I've ever encountered. Here's what we did:

1) No More Antibiotics. These may or may not kill off the bronchio germs when you got them, but then they'll fuck with other parts of your body (like ladyparts if yer a lady) and then you take more antibiotics for that and then you get the bronchitis again and suddenly you realize you've been sick for 5 months and are pretty sure those damn antibiotics are evil.

2) Cut out dairy and wheat for a month. Goal was to eliminate foods that are likely to make you mucusy. Instead, I was told to indulge in foods that included cinnamon, cardamon, tumeric, ginger, and garlic. Woo! You mean I have to drink soy chai and eat lots of indian and thai food? Right on!

3) He also gave me some secret chinese herb pills called BronchoPulse, and some probiotics to fix up the damage from all those antibiotics I'd taken, then stuck needles in me for a half an hour and sent me off.

I slept hard the rest of that day, and within four days, I felt healthy for the first time in months, And stayed that way, no more reoccurring junk.

Since nothing can make a person laugh quite like reading about the misfortune of others, perhaps you will find it cheering to read about my holiday trip from hell that stranded me at the airport and made me ride on buses for two days from Chicago to Phoenix.
